Patterson & Dewar Engineers, Inc. (P&D) is pleased to introduce a new suite of services to assist its power delivery clients with communications, power system automation, and Smart Grid applications.

Through its new SCADA, Automation, and Communications practice area led by engineering manager, Michael Thesing, P&D will deliver clear and concise system designs, independent and objective assessments, best practice comparisons, and thorough testing and commissioning. He explains, “We understand the importance of collaborating with utility staff to help them shape, understand, and grow with technology that provides ‘real world’ benefits.”

Michael came to P&D in 2014 from GE Energy Management where he worked as a systems engineer on a number of complex power system projects involving substation/distribution automation, microgrid and distributed energy resources, electrical balance of plant, and advanced metering infrastructures. Previously, he was a consultant with KEMA providing engineering services for transmission grids, battery energy storage, and SCADA/automation systems.

Michael is a Senior Member of IEEE, authored the DNP3 over IP specification, and is co-inventor on one US patent, and was recently quoted in the SCADA LIGHT article published in RE Magazine.
