News Release: P&D Opens Nashville Regional Office

P&D_NashvillePatterson & Dewar Engineers, Inc. (P&D) is pleased to announce its new office in the Nashville area, located at:

Since 1947, P&D has served clients in the TVA service area. Located 20 minutes NE of Nashville, this new office gives those clients a local presence, and allows P&D to provide even better service to our clients in the region, and nationwide.

The Nashville office opened in the summer of 2014, with several new and tenured staff offering a wealth of knowledge and experience in electrical and civil engineering, SCADA system design and implementation, power delivery analysis and planning, rate work, cost of service, and land surveying. Our Nashville team includes:

Anthony Hanson, PE

With more than 27 years of industry experience, including 20 years of project management experience on more than 150 projects, Anthony is an expert in substation design, SCADA system design and implementation, smart grid automation, coordination studies, and underground distribution design. He graduated with a B.S.E.E from Tennessee Tech University. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, and California.

Jack Wallace, PE

Jack is an electrical project engineer with six years of experience in substation design, automation and commissioning, SCADA system design and implementation, communication design, system modeling, ground grid design, short circuit analysis, protective relay settings, and coordination studies. Previously, he served as a U.S. Naval Electronics Technician for five years, specializing in wireless communication systems, power systems, and radar systems.  Jack graduated Magna Cum Laude with his B.S.E.E jointly from Western Kentucky University and University of Louisville.  He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee.

Blake Dicus, PE

An electrical project engineer, Blake has more than 10 years of experience in designing substations up to 500 kV, including protection and control design, protective relay selection, DC schematics, SCADA system design and implementation, communication design, protective relay coordination studies, protective relay testing, and substation commissioning and energization assistance. He graduated with his B.S.E.E from Tennessee Tech University, and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee.

Edward Durham

Eddie is a project designer with more than 26 years of experience with substation design up to 500kV, including the design and completion of substation project drawings using AutoCAD® software and manual drafting, as well as 3-D modeling. He earned his diploma in Mechanical Drafting from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, and is certified as a Mechanical Drafter by the Tennessee State Board of Regents.

Brent Dorris

Brent Dorris is a transmission and distribution designer with nine years of experience providing line design and field survey services for 4 kV through 161 kV for the installation of new facilities and the upgrade of existing facilities.  He specializes in construction unit inventory, route layout, structure staking, distribution design calculations, property ownership research, easement and right-of-way acquisition, and route surveys, and is proficient with AutoCAD®, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD® applications for design and mapping.  Brent earned his diploma in Architectural Drafting from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.

Valerie Crawford, CDT

Valerie is a project coordinator with more than seven years of experience supporting project managers on substation and transmission line design projects. She administers procurement and construction contracts, assists with business development, serves as document control for the project drawing review process, and monitors project budgets. Valerie graduated with a BA in English from Middle Tennessee State University. She is currently pursuing an MBA at Belmont University, and is certified as a Construction Documents Technologist by the Construction Specifications Institute.

Drew Beck, PLS, RPLS, PSM

Drew is a surveying manager with more than 30 years of experience working on projects within the private sector and government agencies. He specializes in conventional land, boundary, route, topographic, construction, as built/record, ALTA – ACSM, engineering and heavy industrial surveys. Prior to joining P&D, he held various senior surveying management positons throughout the Southeast. Drew is a member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Surveyors and has served as a past president of its Middle Chapter. He is licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Texas.
